Dreamgirls: The Broadway Musical Sensation

It’s not easy putting up a Broadway show, especially when you are not even on Broadway in New York. Some would say it’s almost like trying to make an igloo in the middle of the Sahara. It sounds impossible, but it isn’t. All you need is a dream, and a heart to make that dream become a reality.

Broadway Academy believes in making dreams come true, especially for the performing arts scene in Malaysia. Many creative people in Malaysia want to make it big; they have a dream, and for most, it stays that way for a long time. Broadway Academy, with its strong ties with Broadway in New York City, and other musical theater companies around the South East Asian region, aims to change the fate of many Malaysian performers, helping them take a few steps closer to making their dreams come true.

In July 2011, Broadway Academy will be staging Dreamgirls. A fantastic team of ambitious and energetic people has been put together to mount the show – making it the first large-scale Broadway production to be staged in Malaysia by Malaysians.

A stellar cast has also been put together, to ensure that the show will inspire many other Malaysians to take on their dreams and to venture into the world of creative and performing arts.

Dreamgirls will run from 14 to 24 July 2011 at Istana Budaya in Kuala Lumpur. And yes, “baby, we’ll be there!”
